Sr. Elizabeth Ann "Liz" Sjoberg made her annual vows for the first time on Sunday, August 12, 2012 at the National Shrine of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton. Her parents are those pictured to her right. Sr. Liz was surrounded by family, friends and many Daughters of Charity as she renewed her baptismal promises and vowed poverty, chastity, obedience and service to those who live in poverty for one year.
As a "Society of Apostolic Life"... two links for you to check out what a Society of Apostolic Life is:
...the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul make simple vows annually. The intention for these vows when taken is forever though, not just for one year. Members of a Society of Apostolic Life do not pronounce "religious vows". Check out the links find out more in general about the differences.
The Daughters of Charity make simple private vows annually. When a Sister makes them for the first time they are aloud. If you were to be present with Daughters of Charity on the feast of the Annunciation, when we all renew our annual vows, we simply kneel down after the homily and silently renew them. Later there is an attestation that we each renewed our vows.
We pray for Sr. Liz as she confirms her commitment to Christ through her vows and will be moving to Chicago to study social work.
